Summer Art Workshop @ MSU

Open to rising 9th graders through recent high school grads.
Try your hand at different types of media and discover new ways to create. You'll expand your knowledge of studio art, color theory, and contemporary art theory. Campers will receive instruction from MSU faculty, use professional equipment, and have the opportunity to produce college-level works of art.

Summer Art Workshop is for both first-timers and experienced artists. Jump into hands-on seminars, visit galleries, and participate in fun art-related activities in the evenings. At the end of the week, family and friends are invited to see your works displayed in a gallery during our closing ceremony.

Campus Living

SAW campers may be "residential" (sleep overnight in a dorm room with a roommate) or "commuter" (go to your home each evening and return in the morning). Both residential and commuter campers are welcome to eat 3 meals per day in the campus dining hall. Just like college students, campers will walk around MSU's campus each day to arrive to the cafeteria, their residence hall, their seminars, and other scheduled activities.

After Registration

A few weeks before camp, campers and adults will receive an email (and campers will receive a packet in the mail) with info about check-in, what to pack, behavior expectations, medical info, and other details. In the meantime, connect with Summer Art Workshop on social media for announcements and sneak peeks.

 

$550 Resident Camper: Includes tuition, a double-occupancy dorm room, daily meals, accident insurance, and most instructional materials.

$450 Commuter Camper: Includes tuition, accident insurance, most instructional materials and daily meals. We welcome commuter campers to stay for evening activities. Specific daily pick-up/drop-off plans will be arranged between the camper's family and the Camp Director during opening day check-in.

$125 Deposit: This saves your spot at SAW. This deposit is non-refundable. Instructions on paying your remaining balance will be emailed to you in the coming months.

The registration deadline is May 12, 2023. Cancellations must be emailed to the Camp Registrar by May 12, 2023 to qualify for a partial refund (minus a $125 fee). No refunds will be issued after May 12, 2023.

A limited number of partial scholarships are available thanks to MSU's College of Humanities and Fine Arts. Scholarship applications are due by April 12, 2023. To apply for a scholarship, submit the following information to cdothsuk@murraystate.edu. Label each attachment with the student's name (example: janesmith_statement.docx.) and include student's name, contact info, and school on every document.
